We at Pehchan are proud and honoured to announce our much anticipated MyMumbai Project 2026!!
With remarkable creativity, imagination and determination, Mumbai’s unseen stories were brought to through the vision and creativity of those who live on the city’s margins, the homeless communities of Mumbai, capturing the everyday moments that often go unnoticed.
35 homeless photographers this year took over 945 images.
The MyMumbai 2026 Calendar Project continues to use Photovoice to reveal the city of Mumbai that is intimate, vulnerable, resilient and lies beyond familiar portrayals. What has emerged is not simply a set of images but a collective narrative of survival, dignity and the extraordinary resolve found in the most challenging corners of this beautiful city.
Yesterday, at the Directorate of Municipal Administration Office in Mumbai, we had the honour of inviting an esteemed panel of judges to curate forty photographs from this vast and moving archive. Their expertise, empathy and commitment guided the careful selection process. The distinguished panel included Mr Ujjwal Uke, Retired IAS Officer and Chairman of the State Level Shelter Monitoring Committee of Maharashtra;Mr.Shankar Gore (Joint Commissioner Directorate of Municipal Administration, Maharashtra), Mr Anil Galgali Senior Journalist and RTI Activist; Mr Prashant Nakwee, Professional Photographer and Media Expert; Prasanna Kher (FUJIFILM IndiaPhoto Imaging Division) and Mr Brijesh Arya, Founder of Pehchan. Their thoughtful engagement with each image reflected deep respect for the stories, artistry and humanity behind every frame.
Alongside the panel’s selections, public voting was also conducted to ensure that the wider community could engage with and support the photographs that resonated most deeply with them.
